EL AL sets dates for Fort Lauderdale-Tel Aviv service
EL AL Israel Airlines announced Monday its schedules for the fall holiday season as well as an April 15, 2024 startup date for regularly scheduled service to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The national air carrier of Israel, which already serves Miami International Airport, announced earlier this year it intended to start flying from the Broward County airport to Tel Aviv with Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airline also moved its U.S. offices from New York to Margate.
“This is another milestone in EL AL’s continued growth in Florida,” said Marc Cavaliere, EL AL’s senior vice president–The Americas. “Today we can announce the schedule for our service from FLL to TLV beginning next April. Travelers can begin booking these flights today at elal. com and with travel agents.”
The airline said it will start operating eastbound flights on Mondays from Fort Lauderdale that will depart at 2 p.m. and land at Ben Gurion at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday. A second eastbound flight will leave Saturdays at 11:55 p.m. arriving in Tel Aviv at 7 p.m. the next day.
Returning passengers can board westbound flights from Tel Aviv to Fort Lauderdale on Mondays at 12:05 a.m., arriving at 6:35 a.m. Monday. Another westbound flight is available on Fridays, with the same departure and arrival times.
Seasonal holiday flights
Cavaliere said flights to Tel Aviv during the Jewish holidays will operate starting next month on Sept. 13, 20 and 27, and on Oct. 5, 10 and 12.
The flights are now available for booking on elal.com and with travel agents, he said in a statement. It did not list any departure or arrival times.
EL AL began service between Tel Aviv and New York in 1950. The airline says it now serves 52 international destinations in 33 countries, with its service from North America aboard a fleet of 787s with three classes of service: Business, Premium and Economy.
The carrier operates more than 40 weekly flights from JFK, Newark, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, and soon, from Fort Lauderdale.
Travel advisory
The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is recommending that visitors “exercise increased caution” when traveling to Israel and the West Bank “due to terrorism and civil unrest,” according to a travel advisory the department has maintained since July 13.
The department also lists a “do not travel” advisory to Gaza “due to terrorism, civil unrest and armed conflict.”
