When it comes to food, South Florida is a great place to be. So many new restaurants open nearly every day. Here’s what’s coming soon to a city near you.

Livello, Coral Springs

A new restaurant from chef Bruno Silva (Tavolino Della Notte in Coral Springs) will replace the short-lived Osteria Mazzi sometime this winter on North University Drive. Silva, who grew up selling popsicles on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, fuses Italian, modern and American cuisine with his menus. (He started his South Florida career in the kitchens of Tavolino.) 2047 N. University Drive, Coral Springs; no website or phone number yet available

Black Jack’s Rum Bar & Grille, Davie

The restaurateur behind the Drunken Taco chain and the late Giovanni’s Coal Fire Pizza is back with this American pub that’s expected to debut in early spring on the ground floor of the new Zona Village apartment complex, across the street from Nova Southeastern University. The 200-seat pub from owner Ted Sabarese will have a full bar along with hamburgers and steaks, although its menu hasn’t been finalized. 3890 Davie Road, Suite 104, Davie; BlackJacksRumBar.com

Yet another restaurant under the umbrella of onetime “Big Brother” star and restaurateur Memphis Garrett, this seafood kitchen and oyster bar plans to debut in December on Fort Lauderdale Beach, near the Parrot Lounge and Primanti Bros. The menu also has lamb, beef, chicken thighs, saffron chicken tenderloin doner, along with steak and falafel and “crave fries” (topped with feta, garlic yogurt and pickled onions). The chain has carved out 34 other locations in California and Texas, with future South Florida outposts also heading to Coral Springs (1280 N. University Drive) and Boynton Beach (1780 N. Tutto Mare, Palm Beach

This Mediterranean concept from the Tutto il Giorno restaurant group is being billed as the first Intracoastal waterfront restaurant in Palm Beach. The eatery on the style isle is expected to open next winter at The Royal Poinciana Plaza and is owned by Gabby and Gianpaolo de Felice, the wife-and-husband dining duo behind Tutto il Giorno in Southampton, East Hampton and Sag Harbor, New York. “Our goal with Tutto Mare is to create something chic, comfortable and intimate, balancing architecture with decor and ambiance,” she says. “Tutto Mare will be a place for the community to gather in a fresh environment, while celebrating Palm Beach’s rich history.” 340 Royal Poinciana Way, Palm Beach

Field of Greens, West Palm Beach

This will be the fifth Field of Greens in Palm Beach County, joining four others in Palm Beach, North Palm Beach, West Palm Beach and Wellington. The locally-based brand is owned by Hess Musallet and Myron “Mosie” Miller. This latest iteration of the fine-casual eatery — with a menu centered on salads, wraps, sandwiches, vegan dishes, acai bowls, smoothies and more — intends to open at Phillips Point office building in January, joining a slate of other restaurants that have raced to open in the Flagler Financial District (Harry’s, Adrienne’s Pizzabar, Felice and next year’s Estiatorio Milos). “As we continue to expand in Palm Beach County, this location is special as we are able to serve fresh, health-conscious cuisine to downtown West Palm Beach’s growing business community,” Musallet says. 777 S. The hard-to-categorize menu created by chef David Wong has a global vibe with tacos, sushi, Cajun chicken, burgers, plant-based dishes, pizza, seafood, steaks and a host of weekend brunch classics. The brand started in 1982 with its first restaurant in Edmonton, Alberta, and is now based in Vancouver. “We are incredibly excited to introduce Earls Kitchen + Bar to the vibrant community of Fort Lauderdale,” says Kristin Vekteris, chief brand officer. 1002 E. Luna Rosa Sandwiches, Delray Beach

It’s been two months since owner David Hunt closed the beloved Sandwiches by the Sea, his nautically themed port-ofcall for handhelds a block from the ocean, after 22 years in business. In its place will rise this new sandwicherie from another Delray Beach veteran, Fran Marincola, who has operated casual Italian eatery Caffe Luna Rosa around the corner since 1993. Opening later this winter, the shop is registered to Maricola and business partner Kim Thomas. No menu or website is yet available, but the eatery is expected to offer some of the freshbaked breads already served at Caffe Luna Rosa. 1214 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach

Serious Dumplings, Plantation

Replacing the former “fast-fine” restaurant Ovlo Eats, which shuttered earlier this year, is the fourth South Florida location of this dumpling franchise. Registered to franchisee Yang Ruyun, the shop expects to debut this winter in the Plantation Commons strip mall. The restaurant will specialize in dumplings of every ilk — xiaolongbao, pan-fried and steamed — along with noodle and rice bowls, scallion

pancakes and squid salad, and dim sum from shrimp siu mai to braised chicken feet. The restaurant joins outposts in Boca Raton (which debuted in May), North Miami and Davie. 7626 Peters Road, Plantation; SeriousDumplingsUSA.com

Cafe Americano Supper Club, Boca Raton

Classic meets contemporary Italian at this posh sit-down, which is registered to Christopher Gallo and Joseph Esposito and is expected to debut sometime in winter next to Doris Italian Market, within the Yamato Village strip mall. The old-meets-new dynamic even extends to the decor, with a large chandelier in the dining area and octagonal light fixtures over the bar. That mashup also is reflected in the in-progress menu, which includes seared ahi tuna and pasta al pomodoro, along with salads, cheese appetizers, and vanilla cheesecake and apple pie for dessert. 9101 Lakeridge Blvd., Suite 1, Boca Raton; 561-576-3000; CafeAmericanoSupperClub. com

Cake Daddy’s, Wilton Manors

Cuban-born baker Victor Calderon is the culinary muscle behind this new Wilton Drive bake shop — emphasis on the muscle. A banner facing the Drive depicts the tattooed and shirtless Calderon sporting an apron, triumphantly hoisting a 9-inch cake. The bakery expects to debut sometime in December. Calderon, who immigrated to the states in 2012, says in a GoFundMe post that he originally baked and sold cakes to support himself and his mother while funding his way out of Cuba. No menu is yet available, but

the website is filled with images of cupcakes and custom cakes. 2047 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors; 954-361-1239; CakeDaddys. com

Saiko-i Sushi Lounge and Hibachi, Plantation

Before year’s end, this Japanese restaurant and lounge plans to debut inside the city’s Shoppes at Broward plaza on Broward Boulevard. The hibachi comes from husband-andwife hospitality vets Jason Zheng and Tina Wang (Koi Japanese Cuisine & Sushi Lounge, Coco Sushi Lounge & Bar, Yakitori Sake House), who also operate a Saiko-i in Boca Raton. The restaurant will also offer entrees such as lobster pad thai and salmon kha pow, pan-seared Chilean sea bass and Thai red curry organic chicken, as well as fried rice, ramen bowls, stir-frys, sushi boats and 30 signature rolls. 8100-8160 W. Broward Blvd., Plantation; saikoiboca.com

Hurts Donut Co., Plantation

This Missouri-born treat shop founded by Timothy and Kas Clegg is expected to open its first Florida location sometime this year at Plantation Walk, a spokesperson for the mega-shopping playground has told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. The bake-shop chain serves goodies themed around Cookie Monster (yes, with googly eyes), Homer Simpson (pink, multicolored sprinkles) and cotton candy (topped with a hunk of cotton candy), along with custard-filled Long John and cake doughnuts studded with Reese’s Pieces and Fruity Pebbles. Though a lease was reportedly signed in early June, no exact address is yet available.

Mission BBQ, Royal Palm Beach

This pit joint — the second in Palm Beach County — is coming this year to the Boulevard Shoppes at Cypress Key plaza, adding to the flurry of new restaurants heading to the once-sleepy Southern Boulevard drag. The Maryland-born chain is a hub of pork and patriotism where, at lunchtime each day, TV screens burst to life with the American flag and customers rise to sing The Star-Spangled Banner. Its menu is built around entrees of Texas-style brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey, salmon, pulled chicken “bay-b-back” ribs and spare ribs, along with sides such as coleslaw, green beans, baked beans and mac-n-cheese. 11929 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach; Mission-BBQ.com

The Baked Bear, Dania Beach

The Baked Bear plans to open its second South Florida location sometime this winter at Dania Pointe, the sprawling al fresco mall and entertainment enclave in Dania Beach. As with the other location in Sawgrass Mills, this new novelty dessert shop will feature 13 bakedfrom-scratch-daily cookies and 13 premium craft ice cream flavors. You will also be able to mix and match two cookie flavors and choose an ice cream flavor for the filling, thus creating your own customized ice cream sandwich. Additionally, The Baked Bear will serve pints, sundaes and Bear Bowls (a warm cookie and brownie served with a scoop of ice cream). There are two more shops planned for Miami-Dade County.
