Robert Hugh Redding, Jr. - Funeral services for Robert Hugh Redding, Jr., 61, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC. Pastor Chuck Byrd will officiate. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to the service (10:00 - 11:00 AM) at the Woodridge Mausoleum Chapel. There will be a reception, with light refreshmen­ts served, at Woodridge Funeral Home after the service.

Robert Redding, Jr. passed away at his home after a year-long bout with cancer on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late Robert Hugh Redding and Darlene Reynolds Redding. Mr. Redding grew up in Margate, Florida. Before moving to West Columbia, South Carolina he lived in Boca Raton, Florida for 14 years.

Robert had a passion for dogs, particular­ly Rottweiler­s, and for Alcoholics Anonymous. He brought rescue dogs into his life and into his heart. He also contribute­d to the care of other rescue dogs. His AA Home Group was in South Florida, where he greeted newcomers to the meetings and supported them as they made their journey through sobriety.

He enjoyed dressing as Santa and entertaini­ng little ones. He also had fun dressing as a pirate and attending pirate and renaissanc­e festivals. Every summer he looked forward to attending the Sturgis motorcycle rally in Sturgis, South Dakota and in January every year on his birthday he went to the South Florida State Fair. Other places he enjoyed visiting were Disney World and Key West.

Robert is survived by his loving partner of 15 years, Diana Bricker; son, Daniel Redding of Rapid City, South Dakota; three grandchild­ren; brother, William Redding of Margate, FL; sister, Debra Dean of Margate, FL, and his loving dogs, Bubba and Bella. In addition to his parents, Robert was predecease­d by his sister, Teresa Burm.
