Embiid undergoing MRI on ailing knee

76ers center Joel Embiid will undergo an MRI after the reigning MVP hurt his left knee Tuesday in a 119-107 road loss to the Warriors.

Embiid scored 14 points in that game before limping to the locker room with 4:04 remaining after the Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga fell on the 7-footer’s left leg.

This game marked Embiid’s return to action after an issue with his left knee prevented him from playing Saturday against the Nuggets and Monday against the Trail Blazers. Both games were on the road.

Embiid, the league’s leading scorer, was expected to travel back to Philadelph­ia.

■ C Nikola Jokic sat out the Nuggets’ road game against the Thunder on Wednesday due to lower back pain. It will be the second game the two-time league MVP has missed this season . ... The NBA announced that the draft will be a two-day event for the first time. Round 1 this year will be on Wednesday, June 26. Round 2 will follow the next day.

Baseball: Cal Ripken Jr. and Grant Hill are part of the investor group that has agreed to buy the Orioles, and so are former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke. The group is headed by Baltimore native David Rubenstein, co-founder of the Carlyle Group. Additional investors were revealed in a news release Wednesday announcing the agreement between Rubenstein and the Angelos family, which has run the team for the last three decades and is selling a controllin­g stake in the team to Rubenstein for $1.725 billion.

Soccer: Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Al-Nassr’s friendly against Inter Miami and Lionel Messi on Thursday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia because he’s recovering from a calf injury.
