Kevin Wagner, associate professor and director of graduate studies in Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Political Science, was chosen to be an academic fellow on the study of terrorism by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), a non-partisan policy institute headquartered inWashington, D.C. Wagner will travel to Israel in June for an intensive course on terrorism studies, focusing on how democracies can defeat the worldwide terrorist threat. The 2013 programwill be conducted at TelAviv University and includes lectures by academics, military and intelligence officials, and diplomats from Israel, Jordan, India and the United States. It also will include “handson” experience through visits to police, customs and immigration facilities, military bases, and border zones to learn the practical side of deterring and defeating terrorists.
Catherine Mitil joined Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches, an independent high school inWest Palm Beach, as its full-time vocal teacher. In addition to her teaching career, Mitil has presented four solo recitals and performed favored roles in several operas, including Gianni Schicchi and Die Fledermaus. Shewas also an artist in residence at Drey foos School of the Arts. Mitil is a member of the Florida Vocal Association, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Florida Music Educators Association. She also serves as a choir director for Young Singers of the Palm Beaches.
Terri Shermett joined College Living Experience as its director of CLE Fort Lauderdale. Before joining CLE, Shermett worked at the Broward Community School, where shewas the Adult Basic Education, General Education Development, and English Speakers of Other Languages teacher.
