Heat on display at gallery

The Williams McCall Gallery is taking advantage of South Florida’s NBA playoffs fervor — displaying MiamiHeat-themed artworks from Coconut Grove collage artist Erika King and Boston-based sports illustrator Larry Johnson.

King is an official NBA-licensed artistwhocollagesthegame-changing moments in the 25-year-old franchise’s history, while Johnson capturesWade, LeBron and others in heroic game poses. Yes, he’s a Boston Celtics fan, but he says: “I tend to celebrate perfection in what athletes do, and LeBron and Wade are just worth painting ... Besides, the Celtics have already gotten enough championships.”

The free exhibit is open through May 25. The gallery (110 Washington Ave., CU-3, Miami Beach) is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, and by appointment only Sunday-Monday. 786-359-4321, WilliamsMcCallGallery.com
