A veteran Broward County School District employee is accused of stealing more than $50,000worth of gasoline from the district’s fuel pumps, according to a police report.

Pablo Jesus Oliver, 52, who hasworked for the district 18 years, allegedly used unauthorized “fuel keys” to tap into thepumps, towhich he had access because of his work duties, the police report said.

He was taken into custody Monday on charges of aggravated white-collar crime, second-degree grand theft and official misconduct, records show. Oliver, of Fort Lauderdale, posted a $13,500 bond about 10 hours after his arrest, according to jail records.

Oliver could not be reached for comment despite a phone message left on a cellphone. At the time of his arrest, Oliver was a laborer for the district’s maintenance department and a bus driver, but has since been reassigned, records show.

According to a report filed by Broward Schools Police, between Nov. 1, 2011, and Dec. 31, 2012, Oliver used his position to obtain fuel for his personal benefit. A staff member in the facilities department tipped off police, a school district spokeswoman said.

Camera footage and computer data showed that Oliver obtained and transported the gasoline during times that he was “purportedly performing his school district duties,” and used School Board vehicles to do so, the report said.

Employees have to fill out forms if they want gasoline, the report said. According to the report, Oliver once worked as a fuel attendant with the district andwas familiar with the process.

The arrest report said there were times when Oliver clocked in before the authorized start of his shift to swipe gasoline.

The report didn’t specify the number of gallons stolen, and didn’t state the location of the thefts.
