Wisconsin over Nebraska

Almost everyone likes Ohio State to win the Leaders, in part because its Sept. 28 duel with Wisconsin will take place in the Horseshoe. But I’ll take the Badgers and low-key rookie head coach Gary Andersen. Wisconsin might have the best tailbacks in the league with James White and Melvin Gordon.

The Big Ten title game will feature a rematch between Wisconsin and Nebraska. It is a leap of faith to assume that the Cornhuskers defense, with five new starters along the front seven, will rebound from allowing 70 and 45 points in their final two games last season. But top Legends foes North western, Michigan and Michigan State ain’t perfect, either. I’ll take Wisconsin to prevail in Indy and return to the Rose Bowl.

Ohio State over Michigan

Wish I could go against typecasting, but it just doesn’t seem plausible. Ohio State vs. Michigan.

Michigan does face that dicey November run, playing three division road games in four weeks and hosting Nebraska in between. Maybe there’s an opportunity for the Cornhuskers to find their way to Indianapolis. Still, even if the Wolverines lose two division games, they’ll be fine as long they beat Nebraska.

Ohio State should have no trouble winning the Leaders Division, especially if its offense remains healthy and on point. But can it win back-to-back games over Michigan, one in Ann Arbor and the next in Indianapolis? All that’s left to decide is the bowl game: Rose or BCS title game against Alabama.

Ohio State over NU

Chris Dufresne Los Angeles Times I’m hoping for a good match up involving any two teams except Wisconsin. The good news is Ohio State is eligible in the Leaders Division and should win it handily. The Legends is a bear. Many are picking Michigan, which could play Ohio State back-to-back if the teams meet for the Big Ten title.

But I’m not picking Michigan in the Legends, I’m taking North western, coming off a 10-3 season in which it beat an SEC team (Mississippi State) in a bowl game. The division likely will be decided in a two-week November stretch when NU plays atNebraska and then comes home to play Michigan. So, let’s go with Ohio State vs. Northwestern in the Big Ten title game and Columbus winning this year’s BCS (or Rose) ticket.

Urban Meyer made quite the splash in his first season at Ohio State. The Buckeyes went undefeated and if it weren’t for a postseason ban, the team might have played for a national title.

The only thing that stands in the Buckeyes’ way could be Nebraska. The Cornhuskers have been on the cusp of greatness since joining the Big Ten in 2010 yet somehow always wind up falling short. The Huskers have a potent offense led by fourth-year quarterback Taylor Martinez but must get past Michigan.

In the end, with the ban a thing of the past and a team loaded with talent, look for Meyer and Ohio State to capture the Big Ten title and make a run at a national championship.
