Second suspect charged in killing
Three months after a Fort Lauderdale man was killed by gunfire and another man was wounded while playing dominoes, authorities announced Tuesday the arrest of a second suspect in the case.
The first suspect in the shootings was arrested in March, and a third person was still being sought.
On March 19, detectives found a pool of blood, spent pistol and rifle bullet casings and blocks from the disrupted dominoes game in the 500 block of Northwest 29th Terrace in unincorporated Broward County.
Late that night, a dispute over money had brought three armed men in a Dodge Durango SUV to the residence near Fort Lauderdale.
They approached a group of five friends who were playing dominoes outdoors, according to a Broward sheriff’s arrest affidavit.
One of the men from the SUV ordered everyone to the ground.
Bonnie Lockhart, 30, of Fort Lauderdale, was wounded in his hand.
Shot in his head and body was Roderick Simmons, 30, of Fort Lauderdale, who a short time later was pronounced dead at Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach, according to the affidavit.
The man who was approached for money fled and was unharmed, the report stated.

Tyrell Cobbin, 24, of Fort Lauderdale, was taken into custody March 21 and charged with the same offenses, the Sheriff’s Office said.
