Nephew head-stomps and robs uncle in Riviera Beach, police say
A dispute with a relative caused a man to suffer a brutal headstomping robbery that left him hospitalized over the weekend, according to a Riviera Beach Police arrest report.
The attack happened about 4:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of West 30th Street.
The victim told police he got into a “heated” argument with his nephew, Nathaniel Johnson, 27, of Riviera Beach, when he demanded that Johnson leave a residence, police said.
The uncle said Johnson got upset because Johnson thought his uncle was being too demanding, according to the report.
Johnson left. But as his uncle was walking through a vacant field on West 30th Street, a gray car stopped near him, police said. Out of the car came Johnson armed with a silver semiautomatic, according to the report.
Johnson pointed the gun at his uncle and demanded that he kneel before pistolwhipping his uncle, police said.
The uncle asked why he was being attacked but didn’t get an answer and instead, Johnson grabbed his uncle by his collar and bit him, according to the report.
Johnson stomped on his uncle’s head twice but heard a voice during the attack, causing him to grab his uncle’s phone and run, police said.
Riviera Beach Fire-Rescue took the victim to a hospital. The left side of his head was swollen, and he was bleeding from his ear, left eye and right hand.
Police found Johnson on Monday and arrested him.
Johnson has previous convictions for carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana, according to state records.
He was held in Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $210,000 bail.
