DUI manslaughter suspect has bail revoked

- — Kate Jacobson

A Palm Beach Circuit Court judge Wednesday revoked the bail from previous cases of a man charged with DUI manslaughter.

Tyler Cohen, 23, is accused of crashing his scooter and killing his passenger while he was high on marijuana in March.

Before that incident, Cohen had been accused of marijuana possession in November and of grand theft auto in February after authorities said he stole a white Porsche Cayenne, records show.

Because of his bail revocation, he remains in the Palm Beach County Jail while awaiting trial for the manslaughter charge.

In March, the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office said Cohen was driving with his passenger, Naomi Pomerance, 16, on Gun Club Road headed eastbound toward Military Trail in suburban West Palm Beach on a motor scooter.

According to the arrest report, Cohen was weaving in and out of traffic when he approached the intersection. He stopped briefly but went into the southbound lanes of traffic on Military Trail.

Multiple cars hit the scooter, and both Cohen and Pomerance were thrown onto the roadway. Pomerance died and Cohen survived, deputies said. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, according to the arrest report.

At the hospital, deputies determined Cohen was under the influence of marijuana and had about 41 grams of the drug in his backpack. Cohen is charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI property damage and possession of marijuana.
