Coach Don Shula taken to hospital
Family expects recovery after breathing issues
Legendary Dolphins coach Don Shula has been hospitalized because of breathing issues.
Shula, who owns the NFL’s alltime wins record, was taken to Aventura Hospital & Medical Center on Monday evening.
According to his wife, Mary Anne Shula, the 86-year-old was taken to the hospital due to fluid retention and sleep apnea, a disorder that disrupts breathing during sleep.
“The family is looking for a speedy recovery,” Mary Anne Shula said Tuesday.
Don Shula is being kept in the hospital for observation as a precaution. According to his family, he is alert and in good spirits.
