A Boca Raton woman was swindled into a midday carjacking after another driver rear-ended her, according to a Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

It happened at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday as the woman, 58, was driving a 2015 BMW south in the 19000 block of Jog Road in West Boca.

The woman said she pulled over and two people in the other car, later identified as Christian Jerry, 19, of Delray Beach, and a 17-year-old, not being identified by the Sun Sentinel because of his age, walked up to her and asked if she had insurance.

As the 17-year-old asked about the insurance, Jerry spoke on his phone, saying, “Momma... sorry... I had an accident.”

But as the woman prepared to call authorities to report the crash, the duo hopped into her BMW and took off with her car. A third person, later identified as Dontral Spruill, 19, of Delray Beach, took off in a white Chrysler.

Deputies later discovered the Chrysler was stolen.

Working with Delray Beach police, deputies used LoJack, a stolen vehicle recovery system installed in

the BMW, to track it to the 300 block of Southwest Third Avenue in Delray Beach where it was backed into a driveway with the Chrysler behind it.

Three people were in the area but took off when police and deputies arrived. All three were captured with the help of K-9 units and a sheriff’s office helicopter.

“All three subjects refused to speak with me and only denied any involvement in the stolen vehicle,” an officer wrote in the report.

Deputies brought the owner of the BMW to the area and she identified the three people as the ones who carjacked her, according to the report.

Jerry faces armed carjacking, burglary, resisting arrest and failure to appear charges and was held in Palm Beach County Jail on $42,000 bond. Spruill faces an armed carjacking charge and was held in jail on $35,000 bond.
