Ex put sex tapes online, police say
He is accused of sextortion after former girlfriend found videos on porn sites
During their four-year relationship, a woman and her boyfriend recorded videos of themselves having sex. After their 2010 breakup, the woman assumed their private recordings would remain just that — private.
Her ex had other ideas, police say.
Over the summer the 32-year-old Palm Beach County woman discovered one of the sex videos she made with her former boyfriend was on a pornographic website after she rebuffed an overture from him. Her distress mounted when one video on one website multiplied into numerous videos on at least eight porn sites.
Accused of sextortion, the woman’s ex, Daniel Louis Carson, 46, of Sunrise, is now behind bars for allegedly demanding money to remove the videos from the web-
sites, according to a search warrant.
“[The woman] consented to videotaping the sexual intercourse and oral sex, but did not give Daniel Carson permission to post these private videos to pornographic websites after they ended their dating relationship approximately six years ago,” the warrant said.
Jailed in West Palm Beach on $15,250 bond, Carson is scheduled for a Tuesday arraignment on charges of extortion and sexual cyberharassment, records show. His assistant public defender could not be reached for comment Friday. The woman’s name was redacted from court documents.
The woman said she blocked Carson from her email and social media accounts after they broke up. She told investigators that when Carson tried to schedule a July appointment at her hypnotherapy practice, she questioned what he was up to, the warrant said.
“I just wanted to see you,” Carson allegedly told her. He followed up by texting her a screen shot from one of their sex videos. “Don’t you miss this?” the warrant said he asked.
A few Google searches later, the woman discovered a video clip she recognized from the past on a porn site, the warrant said. She turned to authorities for help.
Police listened in while the woman made a phone call to Carson in August. He told her he had posted the video two years ago in the hopes of making a buck. “Daniel then demanded money from [the woman] to take down the sex video from the pornographic websites,” the warrant said.
Six days after that call, another sex video of the couple appeared on another porn site. In subsequent days, more were posted. All were linked to Carson’s email address, the warrant said.
Broward sheriff’s deputies arrested Carson Sept. 23 at the Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach. His Ford Econoline van, containing a laptop computer and six hard drives, was impounded and searched, the warrant said.
Five days after his arrest Carson was transfered from a Broward County jail to one in West Palm Beach.
