3B Mom finds son slain at scene

- By Mike Clary

When Lauretta Pendleton heard there had been a shooting in her neighborhood, she jumped in her car and raced three blocks down the street.

In a small apartment on Harris Terrace, a dead-end street just west of Fort Lauderdale, she found her son, Vincent Holloman.

“He was on the floor,” she said Sunday, fighting back tears. “I held him, trying to get him to respond. But he was already gone.”

Holloman, 40, was killed and two others at the apartment were wounded about 2:20 p.m. Saturday, according to Broward Sheriff’s detectives.

The suspects ran away and then got into a vehicle, said sheriff ’s office spokeswoman Joy Oglesby.

The two wounded were identified by investigators as Darryl Williams, 44, and Danielle Demps, 28, both of Fort Lauderdale. They were taken to Broward Health Medical Center by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.

Pendleton said Williams is her nephew and Demps his girlfriend.

Demps remains in the hospital, and Williams has been released, Oglesby said.

On Sunday two black balloons, a teddy bear and a couple of candles had been placed outside the apartment door where Holloman died.

Anyone with information can call Broward Sheriff’s Office Detective John Curcio at 954-321-4200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
