Cook honored
Florida State running back is a consensus All-American, becoming the 37th player in school history to accomplish the feat.
Cook was named to the Associated Press AllAmerica and Football Writers Association of America first teams this week, and previously was named to the Sporting News and Walter Camp All-American first teams.
Cook’s third and fourth All-American honors come after a strong junior season, leading the No. 11 Seminoles to a 9-3 record and Orange Bowl berth against No. 6 Michigan on Dec. 30.
College football players earn consensus status by becoming first-team selections on three of the five major outlets.
Cook could become a unanimous All-American if he is named a first team member by the American Football Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Cook, who will likely be a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, has not yet announced a decision to stay in school or forgo his senior season. Senior defensive end
was named a second team AP All-American after earning first team honors from the Sporting News and Walter Camp.
He could become FSU’s 38th consensus selection if he is recognized by the AFCA.
FSU has had a consensus All-American on every team since 2010.
