Suspect charged in threats case
A Fort Lauderdale man left a voicemail for a Broward judge who ruled against him in an eviction case, accusing the judge of being a pedophile and threatening bloodshed if she sent anyone to his home.
William Bresch, 47, was ordered held on $1.75 million bond on one count of corruption by threats against a public official and three counts of making obscene and harassing phone calls. Further charges are pending, according to Broward Sheriff ’s Office Detective Joe Kessling, who investigated the threats.
Kessling told Broward County Judge Michael Davis on Wednesday that Bresch left a threatening message for Ellen Feld, the judge who handled Bresch’s eviction case earlier this year. Bresch was ordered in June to remove his family from their Fort Lauderdale apartment in the 1500 block of Northwest 16th Lane, according to court records.
On Dec. 7, Feld received a voicemail from Bresch’s cellphone number, said Kessling. The caller identified himself as Bresch. “We are armed,” the caller said. “My family has been given an order by myself as well as the police department to shoot to kill anybody that gets in our way . ... We will shoot to kill anybody that comes after us.”
Bresch later called Broward Clerk of Court Howard Foreman to complain about Feld, leaving a message for him stating that Feld “wants to have a shooting rally” and warning that “people are going to die,” Kessling said.
Kessling told Davis that Bresch also threatened Feld’s judicial assistant, Paula Galluccio, accusing her and Feld of being pedophiles. Bresch is also accused of threatening civil attorney Jorge Palma, who represented Bresch’s landlord. “Pick a time and place and we’ll come for you,” Bresch allegedly said in a voicemail to Palma.
Palma has obtained a restraining order against Bresch.
Kessling said he was prepared to put Feld, Galluccio and Palma under 24-hour guard had a SWAT team not arrested Bresch in Melbourne on Thursday.
