Floyd is released after DUI arrest

-

The Cardinals released wide receiver Michael

Floyd on Wednesday, two days after his early-morning arrest on charges of driving under the influence and failure to obey a police officer.

Coach Bruce Arians declined to comment on the move other than to say it was a “totally” unanimous decision by him, Cardinals President Michael Bidwill and general manager Steve Keim.

Safety Tyrann Mathieu said Floyd, the 13th pick in the 2012 draft, is “like a brother” and that players were shocked and “in disbelief ” after the move.

“He’s a good guy,” said Mathieu, who overcame marijuana-related problems that got him kicked out of LSU to become a 2015 AllPro player. “I think we all make mistakes.”

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Floyd, who was to become a free agent at the end of this season, was taken into custody early Monday after being found unconscious behind the wheel of his running vehicle at an intersection in suburban Scottsdale. He was booked and released. Peterson returning: Vikings running back Adrian

Peterson is returning to practice this week for the first time since tearing the meniscus in his right knee in September.

Coach Mike Zimmer expects Peterson to practice all week but is not sure if he will be available to play against the Colts.

Peterson told a local website earlier this week that he is still targeting the Dec. 24 game against the Packers to make his return to the field. Rodgers sits out: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed practice to focus on rehabbing his leg injuries, a plan that coach Mike McCarthy said will likely stay in place for Rodgers through Thursday. Rodgers hurt his left hamstring a few weeks ago against the Eagles and then hurt his right calf Sunday while throwing a touchdown pass to Davante Adams on the third play of a victory over the Seahawks. But McCarthy said Rodgers told him not to hold anything back from Sunday’s game plan.
