Shows take center stage for families this weekend as the winter break wraps up, with performanc­es and interactiv­e events for South Floridians of all ages.

1. “Out of This World,” the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus show, opens Friday and continues through Jan. 15 at the AmericanAi­rlines Arena in Miami. Prices start at $16 for the performanc­e, which includes acrobats, animals, clowns and, for the first time, ice skating. aaarena.com

2. This is the final weekend to catch Cirque du Soleil’s “Kurios: Cabinet of Curiositie­s” at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Prices start at $39. The show transports its audience into a fantasy world with cutting-edge visuals, puppetry, acrobatics and a cinematic score. cirque dusoleil.com/kurios

3. The Free Family Fest performanc­e ArcAttack is sold out Saturday at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, but standby seats will be released 15 minutes before the show. Families must wait in the standby line beginning at 12:30 p.m. for the 1:30 p.m. show to get the open seats for ArcAttack, a show that is part rock concert, part science experiment, exploring concepts such as electricit­y, voltage and current, magnetism, robotics and lightning. arshtcente­r.org

4. Another great reason to visit the Arsht Center this weekend is Shen Yun, a classical Chinese dance and music company performing Friday through Sunday in Miami. Prices start at $70 for the performanc­e, but children under 4 are not admitted. shenyun.com/Miami

5. Shakespear­e Miami is bringing free Shakespear­e to Boca Raton this weekend with “The Merchant of Venice” at Mizner Park Amphitheat­er. The play is appropriat­e for families, and educationa­l materials are included in the program and at shake spearemiam­i.com. Playgoers should bring a blanket or beach chairs, and no outside food or beverages are permitted for the performanc­es at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday. The play will also be staged Jan. 13-15 at Coconut Grove’s Barnacle Historic State Park, Jan. 20-22 in Pinecrest Gardens and Jan. 27-28 at Hollywood’s ArtsPark Amphitheat­er.

6. Cinderella is being staged by the State Ballet Theatre of Russia at the Miramar Cultural Center at 6 p.m. Sunday. Prices

start at $40 for the two-act fairy tale ballet, which is set to Sergei Prokofiev’s soaring score. Lap tickets are available for ages 2 and younger. miramarcul­tural center.org

7. Try your hand at being onstage during the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Winter Open House on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Families can observe or take a sample class, enjoy refreshmen­ts, face painting, Princess Reads a Lot and giveaways, tour the Education Center, meet the teaching artists, and register to win a winter class registrati­on. 8. Families can Meet the Orchestra at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Roberts Theatre at Saint Andrew’s School, 3900 Jog Road, in Boca Raton. The Boca Raton Symphonia invites kids to touch the instrument­s at the event, meet the musicians and ask questions.
