Indiana’s Anunoby out for season

- AP

Indiana forward OG Anunoby will undergo surgery on his right knee and will miss the rest of the season.

The 6-foot-8, 235-pound sophomore was injured late in the first half of the Hoosiers’ victory Wednesday at Penn State while battling for an offensive rebound.

Some thought Anunoby might declare for the NBA draft after last season but he returned and was averaging 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. He also was tied for 10th in the Big Ten with 1.3 steals per game.

Indiana (13-6, 3-3 Big Ten) hosts Michigan State (12-7, 4-2) on Saturday. UNC’s Bradley cleared: North Carolina coach Roy Williams says freshman Tony Bradley Jr. could return Saturday against Boston College after missing two games with a concussion.

Williams said Bradley has been cleared to play and went through a limited practice Wednesday followed by a shooting workout Thursday. He said Bradley would be on course to play as long as he has no setbacks following Friday’s practice.

The 6-foot-11 native of Bartow, Fla., was hurt Jan. 11 at Wake Forest when he fell to the court after a collision in the lane and appeared to smack the back of his head on the floor.

Bradley is averaging 8.1 points and 5.7 rebounds off the bench for the ninthranked Tar Heels (17-3, 5-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Division II brawl fallout: Fifteen players have been suspended for their roles in a fight that broke out during a basketball game Jan. 14 between Division II programs Lane College and LeMoyne-Owen.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference also announced Friday that it would fine the schools and their respective coaches an undisclosed amount.

Conference officials said three players who “left the bench and were actively involved in the altercation” face five-game suspensions. Two players “directly involved in the incident” received three-game suspensions. Ten more players who left the bench were suspended two games. The schools will be allowed to stagger the suspensions.
