Former Heat guard Briante Weber said Saturday he bypassed the opportunity to return to the Heat on a 10-day contract because, “I just felt like I’ve been with Miami and they haven’t picked me up now, then why continue to go down the same road?”

Weber, who finished last season on the Heat’s playoff roster, saw extensive action with the Heat during preseason, and since had thrived with the Heat’s NBA Development League affiliate, signed a 10-day contract Saturday with the Warriors.

“I had Charlotte and Miami,” he said of his offers this past week beyond the Warriors. “Charlotte has three point guards. Miami, of course, has 17 guards, period.”

In addition to starting guards Goran Dragic and Dion Waiters, the Heat also are extensively featuring Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington in their backcourt, with Josh Richardson Varejao Weber.

“That says a lot about the organization and about how they feel about me being potentially here for longer than just 10 days,” Weber said.

“So I kind of picked a spot that was going to give me the best opportunity to expose myself and put myself on the radar where everybody else can see.”

It also put him in a locker room alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and the rest of the Warriors’ star mix.

“For a kid like me,” Weber said, “you’re just like, ‘Wow, this is my 2K team. This is who I play with on the game.’ So it’s kind of different.”
