Tip leads to arrests
Four teenagers charged in Wilton Manors armed robbery
An anonymous tip has resulted in the arrests of three men and a woman accused in an armed robbery in Wilton Manors.
The robbery happened about 4 a.m. Feb. 12, when Denis Kladchikhin was walking home in the 100 block of Northeast 21st Court, police said.
Darrion Vankleeck, Corey Dukes, Adolfo Amed Vela and Anne Feeley, all 18, are charged.
According to the arrest reports filed in the case, Vankleeck and Dukes chased, struck and robbed Kladchikhin at gunpoint while Vela and Feeley waited in the getaway car.
Surveillance video shows Vela’s black 2015 Honda CRV driving down the street. Dukes and Vankleeck are seen hiding behind a bush as Kladchikhin walks past, and then they chase him on foot out of camera range.
Moments later, the Honda is seen driving in the same direction as the foot chase, picking up two people, and going after Kladchikhin.
When they caught up, the police report says Dukes struck Kladchikhin on the head with a handgun and knocked him to the ground before taking his cellphone, credit card and cash.
Dukes and Vankleeck got back in Vela’s Honda and were seen on surveillance video driving back down the street in the opposite direction.
The cellphone was wiped of fingerprints and thrown away so they could not be tracked with GPS, detectives said.
After seeing the surveillance video in news reports, Vela reportedly kept the cash but discarded the credit card and threw the gun into the Everglades, the police report stated.
Feeley was along for the ride and witnessed everything but did not report the crime, police said.
All have been cooperative since their arrests, investigators said.
Vankleeck, Dukes and Vela were arrested Friday on charges that included armed robbery and grand theft. All were being held without bond, according to court records.
Feeley was arrested on Sunday for being an accessory after the fact, and she has bonded out of the Broward County Jail, records show.
Wilton Manors Police Commander Gary Blocker said Monday there were no indications this was a hate crime, or that any of these four were connected to a home invasion robbery Saturday.
