- — Wayne K. Roustan

Pembroke Pines police are searching for two men suspected of robbing a family of five in an armed home invasion.

According to investigators, the gunmen appeared to follow a woman to her home in the 15900 block of Northwest Seventh Street about 10:50 p.m. Sunday.

When the woman walked into the garage of the home the two men confronted her, demanding money and other valuables.

They forced her inside the home and went to the master bedroom where a man — who until then was unaware of the robbery taking place — was ordered to lie on the floor. There were three children home at the time as well, police said.

The robbers ransacked the home and took a significant amount of cash, two wedding rings, three cellphones and a wallet, police said. No one was hurt. The suspects are described as being in their early 20s, dressed in black and wearing hoodies. One had a bandanna covering part of his face and the other appeared to have white paint speckles on his black clothing, detectives said.

Both men drove off after the armed robbery, police said.

Neighbors said there have been several car burglaries in the area and at least one other armed home invasion.

There are security patrols in the neighborhood but it is not a gated community.

Anyone with information about the home invasion robbery is urged to contact the Pembroke Pines Police Department at 954-431-2200, email tips@ppines.com, or call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
