A baby-sitter who took photos and videos of himself sexually abusing a 2-year-old girl and shared them with a Lauderhill man will spend 60 years in prison, a court ruled Thursday.

Jason Barber, 39, of Las Vegas, Nev., previously pleaded guilty to producing child pornography that depicted the abuse.

Benedict Shaw, of Lauderhill, who requested the photos and video, was sentenced to 45 years in federal prison in 2014.

Barber and Shaw met in an online chat room for people with a diaper fetish. After exchanging emails for about a month, Barber requested that Shaw send him a cellphone and diapers.

Shaw admitted he shipped packages to Barber that contained a cellphone, diapers, pacifiers and baby oil. He sent graphic instructions to Barber, directing him what to do to the child and how to pose with her.

“Take pics and vids. This will make my night and my packages worthwhile,” Shaw wrote in one email to Barber. “No one else will ever see it. I promise I never break my word.”

Barber convinced the child’s mother, who he was dating, to allow him to babysit the toddler while she was at work, officials said. He then recorded himself sexually abusing the child, and then sent the video and several still images to Shaw by email, officials said.

The investigation began in November 2013, when the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, in Broward County, received two online tips that dozens of child pornography images were traded among several email accounts. Law enforcement identified the IP address used to access one of the email accounts, which led them to Shaw.

Shaw, who assumed his dead brother’s identity and hid out for years in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, was also wanted on charges he sexually abused eight victims in his native Massachusetts.

Barber was arrested Dec. 18, 2013, after a man found child pornography on a cellphone he bought from Barber and reported it to North Las Vegas police.
