Meat missing from Publix

- — Staff report

A serial meat thief could be on the loose in Broward County.

The Broward Sheriff ’s Office on Friday released surveillance video of the theft of about $150 worth of meat that happened Feb. 5 at the Publix supermarket at 1170 Weston Road, Weston.

It was shortly before 9 p.m. when the man is seen in the meat department putting skirt steaks and tenderloins into a shopping cart, the sheriff ’s office said.

When he is later seen after walking down an aisle, he is carrying the purloined tenderloins in a plastic bag and, according to investigators, walks out without paying.

The store manager told investigators that the same man is believed to have stolen meat “from several Publix grocery stores.”

Investigators ask anyone with information to contact BSO Detective Karl Toro at 954-389-2010 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477.
