Glamour’s 2017 honorees: It’s been one epic year for women, a notion definitely not lost on Glamour magazine as it named U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, a California Democrat, 27 key facilitato­rs of the Women’s March on Washington and astronaut Peggy Whitson among its women of the year from the worlds of politics, entertainm­ent, fashion, business and more. The other winners announced Monday, ahead of a Nov. 13 gala in Brooklyn, N.Y., are actress Nicole Kidman, singer Solange Knowles, Syrian refugee Muzoon Almellehan, latenight TV host Samantha Bee, supermodel Gigi Hadid, Dior’s first female creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins. This year’s honorees will be featured on multiple Glamour covers as well as in the December issue.

Houston tribute: Christina Aguilera will perform a medley of the late Whitney Houston’s hits at the American Music Awards on Nov. 19 to mark the 25th anniversar­y of Houston’s film “The Bodyguard.” Aguilera said in a statement that Houston was a personal idol and that Houston’s kindness to her as she was coming up in the business “will forever be cherished.” Houston’s estate said the singer thought Aguilera was “one of the best voices she enjoyed in this generation of music.” Houston died at age 48 in 2012.

Oct. 31 birthdays: Actor Brian Doyle-Murray is 72. Director Peter Jackson is 56. Musician Adam Horovitz is 51. Singer Vanilla Ice is 50. Actress Piper Perabo is 41. Singer Willow Smith is 17.
