Brooks hopes ’Noles will reach bowl
TALLAHASSEE — Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker is hopeful his alma mater, Florida State, can turn its season around during the final three games of the regular season.
Brooks, speaking in Orlando on Monday during an event to promote the 2018 NFL Pro Bowl Game at Camping World Stadium on Jan. 28, believes the Seminoles (3-6) have had to endure some trying circumstances.
Losing starting quarterback toa season-ending knee injury and a three-week layoff thanks to Hurricane Irma contributed to the Seminoles’ poor season.
“We have a young team that had to go through a lot of experiences,” Brooks said. “Obviously losing our quarterback the first game of the year … the natural occurrences that we had to go through, then you haven’t had a football game played in over three weeks and looking back that hurt us in terms of playing disciplined and the experiences [they] didn’t have.”
The Seminoles will host Delaware State on Saturday, visit UF on Nov. 25 and face Louisiana-Monroe on Dec. 2. FSU needs wins in all three games to extend their nationleading bowl streak to 36 years.
“The kids are making no excuses, the coaches are making no excuses and right now we just gotta find a way to compile some wins together and hopefully we’ll get a bowl game,” Brooks said.
