Anderson leaves to take college job
South Plantation football coach Dominic Anderson is going back to coaching in the college ranks.
In a social media post Anderson made late Thursday night, Anderson announced he would be stepping down from his job with the Paladins to accept the defensive coordinator role at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky.
“I’ve been so fortunate to work with great young men as a HS coach in South Florida. Best of the best,” Anderson wrote in a statement. “I hope I’ve been as much of a positive impact to all of my players as they’ve been to me.
“To South Plantation HS, I will be forever grateful for giving me the opportunity to grow and trusting my philosophy. I will always be a Paladin. I want to thank all of my coaches, parents and administrators who put the time in and really make it all possible.”
Anderson steps away from South Plant after two seasons. Following an 0-10 campaign in 2016, the Paladins improved to 4-6 last season.
On top of the uptick in wins, facilities are improving at the school. The Dolphins recently donated a new lighting system for the school’s football field, and the team is getting a new weight room and two new uniforms.
“South Plantation is on the rise for sure,” Anderson said then. “It’s going to be the envy of Broward County.”
Anderson was previously defensive backs coach at University of St. Francis, safeties coach at Illinois State University and a graduate assistant at Wake Forest before arriving at South Plantation.
