LIGHTING IT UP
Country singer Luke Bryan to play in West Palm Beach.
Award-winning country singer Luke Bryan will perform Thursday at Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. Fellow country singers Jon Pardi and Morgan Wallen are expected to perform with Bryan.
The concert is part of his international What Makes You Country XL Stadium Tour. The tour is named after his album released in December and features songs such as “Light It Up,” “Most People Are Good” and “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset.”
Reviews of the album have been mixed. Jim Wright of Rolling Stone calls it a “stomping Southern rock assertion of down-home cred” and gives it three out of five stars.
Chris Williams of Variety starts by recognizing Bryan’s fame: “Bryan isn’t just the most effusively congenial presence in country music, but maybe all of show biz, Hanks notwithstanding. His ingratiating grin will haunt you in your dreams, and probably wear your skeptical city butt down before daylight,” he says.
Williams moves on to say that aside from the song “Light It Up,” “the rest of the material [on the album] is as consistently inconsistent as ever.”
Bryan is known for hit singles such as “Country Girl (Shake It for Me),” “Huntin’, Fishin’, Lovin’ Everyday” and “Rain Is a Good Thing,” which all appear on his recent concert set lists.
Bryan is also a judge on “American Idol” and was named “Entertainer of the Year” at the 2013 Country Music Awards.
The tour runs through January 2019 and includes more than 50 cities.
Tickets are still on sale via TicketMaster.com. Bryan’s other Florida concerts include Jacksonville on June 22, Tampa on June 23 and Archer on Oct. 4.
