Whose stock went up Monday and whose went down.

Monday at Miami Dolphins training camp, this is how it looked:

Stock up

CB Xavien Howard is establishing a reputation as a shutdown cornerback by making WR DeVante Parker invisible for nearly the entire first week of camp. Parker gets his fair share of passes from Ryan Tannehill, like the go-route deep throw they nearly connected on during an 11-on-11 period Monday, but Howard was there to break the play up at the very last second, preventing the touchdown . ...

Defensive ends Robert Quinn and Cameron Wake set the tone for the defense’s dominant day by consistently pushing Miami’s offensive tackles around, owning the line of scrimmage. Tannehill was flushed out of his spot on roughly half his throws Monday.

Stock down

The entire Dolphins offense got pushed around by the defense. Adam Gase’s unit didn’t win a single 11-on-11 period of the first full-padded practice, which featured red-zone, thirddown and situational work. ...

QB David Fales threw one of the ugliest passes of camp. The pass was so bad it’s impossible to say who it was intended for, but cornerback Taveze Calhoun pulled down the wobbler for an interception.

Camp observations

The Dolphins first fullpadded practice featured training camp’s first two fights as Danny Amendola and Bobby McCain connected on a few helmet head-butts after a one-onone rep where McCain was noticeably holding onto Amendola, who took issue with McCain’s hands-on style. A couple of minutes later Jakeem Grant and rookie safety Minkah Fitzpatrick mixed it up for a sidelines clearing brawl . ...

CB Torry McTyer spent most of Monday working with the Dolphins starters, spending his second day of the first week with the firstteam defense. McTyer broke up a possible touchdown from Tannehill to Kenny Stills during an 11-on-11 rep. So far McTyer and Cordrea Tankersley have spent two days with the first team and Tony Lippett had one day with the starters . ...

WR Isaiah Ford caught a nice diving pass on Jalen Davis during one-on-ones, but he dropped a 25-yard pass from David Fales during the third-down period of 11-on-11s . ...

Rookie kicker Greg Joseph made a 55-yard field goal . ...

OG Ted Larsen got plenty of first-team reps because Josh Sitton sat out a good portion of Monday’s practice.

Injury update

Tight end A.J. Derby sat out his second consecutive practice because of a foot injury he suffered Saturday. ...

Defensive tackle Gabe Wright (foot) returned to practice after missing Sunday’s session . ...

C Jake Brendel continues to be sidelined by a calf injury.
