Tickets on sale soon for Dylan’s Lauderdale show.

Bob Dylan on Monday announced Fort Lauderdale will once again be a stop on the songwriter’s Never Ending Tour when he returns Oct. 24 to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The show will mark Dylan’s third appearance at the venue since 2015 and second since he won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016.

In fact, Dylan’s most recent Broward Center concert came just one month after the Nobel announcement, and despite all the public confusion and pearls-clutching over his win, the then 75-year-old artist appeared to be in high spirits. For the phlegmatic Dylan, “high spirits” is, of course, relative, but as I wrote in my review of that show, “he even bordered on goofy, striking Elvis Presleyinspired poses while leaning on his microphone stand and breaking into bowlegged, broncobuster shuffles during songs that otherwise would seem to reject them (‘Tangled Up in Blue,’ ‘Things Have Changed’). This capriciousness — or was it joy? — cut through everything.”

Who knows what kind of mood Dylan will be in this time around, but fans can expect to hear many of the songs he performed during his previous visits to the Center (e.g., “Simple Twist of Fate,” “Pay in Blood,” “Highway 61 Revi- sisted”) along with some welcome additions to the set list he has kept more or less the same in recent years (“When I Paint My Masterpiece,” “Make You Feel My Love”). According to the tour page on BobDylan.com, he is still opening most shows with “Things Have Changed” and closing them with “Blowing in the Wind.”

Tickets for the Oct. 24, concert will go on sale Friday and cost $63.75-$163.75. Go to BrowardCenter.org or BobDylan.com. As usual, Dylan will not have an opening act.
