MIAMI — For a team that lacked a pick in either round of June’s NBA draft, the Miami Heat continue to mine talent from the Class of 2018, on Wednesday signing undrafted California forward Marcus Lee.

The agreement with Lee follows an agreement with undrafted Kansas guard Malik Newman last week and two-way contracts for undrafted forwards Duncan Robinson and Yante Maten, giving the team four players from the most recent draft class.

Lee began his collegiate career at Kentucky before transferring to California for his senior season. The 6-foot-9 forward appeared in 32 games (all starts) with the Golden Bears last season, averaging 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.63 blocks, 1.3 assists in 27.8 minutes, shooting .563 percent from the field. He finished eighth on the school’s single-season blocks list with 52 and was the only player to start all 32 games.

Before sitting out a season when he transferred, Lee set a single-season school record at Kentucky in 2015-16 by shooting 68 percent from the field in helping the Wildcats to the SEC championship.

Among those Lee played with at Kentucky were Julius Randle, Devin Booker, Trey Lyles and Karl-Anthony Towns. He attended the 2016 NBA draft combine before electing to leave Kentucky and transfer to Cal.

Last month, Lee appeared in seven summer-league games with the Cleveland Cavaliers in Las Vegas and averaged 6.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.57 blocks in 15.9 minutes, shooting 21 of 30 from the field.

The addition of Lee gives the Heat 17 players under contract, three shy of the NBA offseason maximum.

He will find himself in a crowded power rotation that also includes Hassan Whiteside, Kelly Olynyk, Bam Adebayo and James Johnson. Also under contract to the Heat are Newman, Goran Dragic, Dion Waiters,

Tyler Johnson, Wayne Ellington, Rodney McGruder, Briante Weber, Derrick Jones Jr. Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson, as well as Robinson and Maten on their two-way contracts.

Teams are allowed to carry a maximum of 15 players during the regular season, in addition to up to two two-way players.

Dwyane Wade, Udonis Haslem and Luke Babbitt remain unsigned free agents from last season’s Heat roster.

Training camp opens late next month, with the Heat’s first preseason game on Sept. 30 and their regularseason opener on Oct. 17.
