Guys crashing through a window, shots fired, and Palm Beach County deputies in the middle of it all.

Authorities say a deputy shot a wanted felon Wednesday afternoon near the 1300 block of West 27th Street in Riviera Beach, according to WPEC-CBS12.

A team was serving a warrant to arrest a man wanted for numerous crimes, including burglary with assault or battery, grand theft and a felon in possession of a firearm, said Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

Authorities got a tip their suspect was visiting a house, and a woman there ran away when she

saw them. Sheriff’s tactical agents moved toward the home, and when one of them was in the backyard, “two individuals crashed through a window into the backyard simultaneously,” Bradshaw said.

“The agent yelled, ‘Gun, gun, gun!’ One guy had a pistol in his hand and started to raise it,” Bradshaw said.

“The deputy shot him one time. He went to the ground. The other individual ran off.”

Deputies tried to find the second man, but he disappeared.

The wounded man, Lorenzo Fernelle Williams, 32, of Riviera Beach, was taken to a hospital, where he is in stable condition, the Sheriff’s Office said. For Wednesday’s encounter, he also will be charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, the agency said.

The deputy involved in the shooting is on paid administrative leave, as is procedure.
