St. Thomas Aquinas junior Brett Roberts fired a final-round 6-under-par 66 to capture the boys 3A individual title on Wednesday at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-inthe-Hills.

Combined with his opening 69, Roberts finished with a 9-under 135.

Last year, the FSU commit also was in position to win after a first-round 70. However, the Raider ended up shooting a final 76 and finishing four back of the medalist.

“It was disappointing last year. I worked very hard getting my game prepared for this season mentally and physically,” Roberts said. “My coaches and teammates definitely played a positive role in me growing as a player this season.”

Finishing in a tie for fourth was Frankie Harris from Boca Raton, who shot a 1-over 145, improving in the second round with a 72.

Boca Raton, behind Harris’ efforts, ended the contest with 609 strokes to be tied for third in the overall team standings.

St. Thomas Aquinas concluded the outing tied with the Bobcats with the ending with 609 strokes as well.

Ava Marano led the Jupiter girls squad to a third-place finish as she fired a 3-over 147.

Marano shot a 73 opening round and followed up by shooting a 74 in the closing round to finish tied for 10th. Coral Glades’ Kayla Holden finished seventh with her 2-over 146.
