Stills excited for Lambeau trip with father watching

DAVIE — The Dolphins’ first trip to Green Bay in eight years will be a special one for Miami receiver Kenny Stills.

Stills is looking forward to playing in front of family, including his father, Ken, who played in the NFL six seasons, including five with the Packers from 1985-89.

“It’s exciting,” Stills said on Thursday. “My pops played for the Packers for five years. It’s going to be pretty cool for me to go there, and I know he’ll be there with my little brothers and stuff. I’m excited, and it’ll be a big game for us.”

The Dolphins (5-4) may be an underdog, but they are facing a 3-4-1 Packers team on a twogame losing streak at 4:25 p.m.

Stills has been practicing despite a groin injury that limited his play in last week’s victory against the Jets.

Stills may have an idea of who his brothers will be rooting for during the game, but he’s not so sure about his father.

“Maybe my little brothers will have some Dolphins stuff on, and he’ll have his Packers stuff on,” Stills said. “But there are no hard feelings there.”

Stills said he does not often talk much with his father about his NFL career, but one highlight of his father’s career comes to mind.

During Ken Stills’ rookie season against the Bears in 1985, Stills launched himself into fullback Matt Suhey after a play that drew penalty flags and scolding from his Packers teammates.

“We really don’t talk much football when he was in the league, but if you go on YouTube, there’s a video of him kinda cheap-shotting something after a play – Bears-Packers rivalry,” Kenny Stills said.

“We don’t really talk about NFL stuff, but I’m sure he has some great memories.”
