South Florida Veterans Day schedule

This year, Veterans Day is Sunday. Many agencies and governmental offices will recognize the holiday the following day. Here’s what will be open and closed in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties on Monday.

South Florida

■ Most banks will be closed. Post offices will be closed; there will be no regular mail delivery. Stock markets will be closed.

■ Most federal, state, county court, governmental and municipal offices will be closed.

■ Tri-Rail will operate a regular schedule. To find train schedules, call Tri-Rail customer service at 800-874-7245 or visit trirail.com.

Broward County

Schools

■ Public K-12 schools, colleges and universities will be closed.

Services

■ Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed. In the event of animal attack or bite, call 911. For lost or found cats or dogs, call 954-359-1313, ext. 9273.

■ Broward County Landfill, 7101 SW 205th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, will be closed.

■ Florida Department of Health in Broward County will be closed.

■ There will be garbage pickup.

Entertainment

■ The county library system will be closed, except for the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Alvin Sherman Library.

■ Broward County regional and neighborhood parks, nature centers and natural areas will be open with the exception of Deerfield Island Park, which will be closed per normal operating schedule.

Transportation

Shopping

■ Malls and grocery stores will be open; individual hours will vary.

Palm Beach County

Schools

■ Public K-12 schools will be open; public colleges and universities will be closed.

Services

■ In unincorporated Palm Beach County there will be garbage collection Entertainment ■ The county library system will be closed Nov. 11. ■ County parks will be open.

Transportation

■ Palm Tran will operate on a weekday schedule; administrative offices will be closed.

Shopping

■ Malls and grocery stores will be open; individual hours may vary.

Miami-Dade County

Schools

■ Public K-12 schools, colleges and universities will be closed.

■ There will be garbage pickup.
