- By Jennifer Boehm South Florida Parenting

Ah, February. The month marked by love and that pesky groundhog who determines if warmer weather will arrive early or if we’ll need to brace for extended “cold” weather. It’s also the kick-off month for some amazing local festivals. The South Florida Garlic Fest, celebrating 20 years, takes place Saturday and Sunday and features local musicians, chefs and of course, garlic. As they say, it’s “the best Stinkin’ party in Florida.” $12-$20. John Prince Park, 4759 S. Congress Ave., Lake Worth. garlicfestfl.com.

Florida Renaissance Festival kicks off this weekend and runs through March 24. Spread out across Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield, there will be live music and shows; handmade arts and crafts; and hundreds of actors and volunteers in typical Renaissance attire ready to take guests back in time. Get ticket prices and view the entire event schedule at renfest.com.

Boca Raton Seafood & Music Festival (today-Sunday) brings a unique blending of delicious seafood and great music, seasoned with a small marketplace of arts & crafts. $5 per person. Children under 12 years old are free. Mizner Park Amphitheater, 590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. seafoodfestivals.com.
