Santaluces assistant girls basketball coach Michael Herbert Cohen was arrested Wednesday for having an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to a probablecause affidavit filed by Palm Beach County School District Police.

Cohen, 26, allegedly sent inappropriate messages, nude photos and videos to the student, who was 16 at the time and was a player on the girls basketball team, according to the affidavit. Cohen also kissed the student, who is now 18, when driving her home from a game or practice, according to the affidavit. She told police she felt “shocked” and “awkward” after the kiss and told Cohen to take her home, according to the affidavit.

In December 2017, Cohen, who is also a behavioral and special needs assistant at the Lantana school, allegedly messaged the student, saying, “I can't say too much, when you graduate, I’ll tell you how I really feel,” the affidavit reads.

Cohen was arrested after a game on Wednesday night after the student met with investigators earlier in the day, according to the affidavit. In a statement to investigators, Cohen confirmed that he had kissed the student and sent nude photos and videos to the student over GroupMe and Snapchat, according to the affidavit.

Cohen will “not return to our campus,” according to a recorded phone call to parents from Santaluces principal Tameka Robinson. Santaluces basketball coach Zoe Price had no comment Thursday morning.

Cohen was charged with violating Florida Statute 800.101, or offenses against a student by an authority figure. Cohen’s bond was set at $3,000, and he was ordered not to contact the student, the school or anyone under 18, according to court documents.
