Wawa, the popular gas and convenience store chain, is hiring for its first Miami stores from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The hiring events will be held at two hotel locations:

Courtyard by Marriott at 2051 S. LeJeune Road in Coral Gables.

Candlewood Suites Miami Exec Airport at 13600 S.W. 139th Court in Kendall.

Wawa said it wants to hire those who have prior restaurant or retail experience.

Denise Diillio, Wawa area manager, said Wawa has openings for 150 workers in Miami, beginning in March and April. Positions include supervisors and customer service.

Benefits for eligible employees include an employee stock ownership plan; 401(k) retirement plans; medical, dental and vision plans; and flexible spending accounts for health care and dependent care.

Wawa broke ground in October for three Miami stores at 6971 S.W. 24th St., 11101 S.W. 184th St. and on the corner of Southwest 137th Avenue and 120th Street.

In January, Wawa announced plans to hire more than 1,000 workers in the state within three months, including 200 in South Florida.

The retailer has 16 locations in Broward and Palm Beach counties, according to spokeswoman Lori Bruce. There are 11 in Broward, with the opening of a Davie store on Thursday, and five stores in Palm Beach County, she said.

The Pennsylvania-based Wawa expects to have a total of 50 stores in South Florida, as it opens additional locations over the next few years, Bruce said.
