Sen. Scott’s prescription drug plan may work
I have several issues with Sal J. Nuzzo’s op-ed.
TV advertising adds a significant cost to the drug. I have heard between 25-40%. The only other country that allows TV advertising of pharmaceuticals is New Zealand.
No company is forced to sell their drugs for less than they cost. They make some profit.
Too many new drugs are “me too” items. As a retired pharmacist, I have experienced that phenomenon too many times to count.
Perhaps that is why foreign countries only allow one drug of each class. I have not been a fan of Rick Scott as senator, but this plan can change my mind.
