The best brunches for dad’s big day

Father’s Day just doesn’t get the kind of big push in restaurant­s that mom’s

May day gets. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

If you know where to look, there are some special specials and papa-riffic happenings in South Florida eateries in that can keep the day from being a dud for your dude.

Here’s a curated list of restaurant­s with different cuisines and price points (and a few take-home suggestion­s) for your pater-celebrater event.

This new brewery and gastropub will serve bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas ($17) during its Father’s Day brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The menu includes dishes such as chicken and cinnamon spiced stout waffles ($17), beer battered fish and chips ($17), smoked pulled pork Benedict ($16) and the Brunch Burger with smoked cheddar cheese, bacon, arugula and a sunny-side-up egg ($16). For the dinner service from 3-10 p.m. fathers will get a free pint of beer. The dinner menu includes options such as a half smoked chicken ($20), steak frites ($25) and a pork chop with sweet potatoes, collard greens and smoked apple butter ($19). Dessert will include chocolate pie ($5), pecan pie cheesecake ($6) or an Empire Stout with vanilla ice cream ($7).

Both South Florida locations will have cigar rollers and raffles where dads have the chance to win a round of golf for a foursome and tickets to a Dolphins game. Party Platter ($169.90) for 10 people includes four dozen mini-knishes and franks-in-jackets as well as your choice of a cold cut platter, 11 sandwiches, a four-foot hero or 11 wraps. This platter option also comes with cole slaw, potato salad and a relish tray. There’s also Ben’s Housewarmi­ng Buffet ($399.80) which includes a choice of vegetable crudité or grilled vegetables. You also get two hors d’oeuvres - choosing from franks-in-jackets, stuffed mushrooms, pastrami-wrapped pineapple, breaded broccoli, mini knishes or sweet and sour meatballs. This buffet option also comes with a choice of a carved roast turkey or rotisserie chicken as well as a choice of cold cuts or beef brisket. This menu also includes salad, a relish tray, dinner rolls and rye bread.

This relative newcomer to Las Olas Boulevard fuses Latin American and Pan Asian flavors (with a little Southern comfort food thrown in for good measure), so the menu includes dishes such as Togarashi fried chicken and waffles topped with Sriracha mapple drizzle ($14) or Steak á Cavalo Fried Rice topped with a sunny-side-up egg, avocado and salsa ($18). But here’s the unique thing: Casa Sensei sits on the Himmarshee Canal and Riverfront Gondola Tours is docked next to the restaurant. You can give your father a private dinner cruise through a partnershi­p between the restaurant and the tour company. The cruise costs $199 and does not include the price of the meal. This eatery inside the Trump National Doral Miami resort will offer a special a la carte Father’s Day menu all day Sunday, June 16, with dishes such as smoked ribeye sandwich with fried egg, New York sirloin with garlic-bacon Brussels sprouts and roasted sweet potatoes (prices range from $12-$32 for most items). There will also be special whiskey cocktails ($14). And each dad gets a free cigar with the purchase of an entree.

This restaurant inside Donald Ross Village shopping mall will celebrate fathers — a day early on Saturday, June 15 — with what they are calling a “BBQ + Beer” special ($15). Dad can get a barbecue plate of smoked pork shoulder, vinegar BBQ, country sausage, cole slaw, corn bread, pickles and a Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer (in a brown paper bag no less). The hotel’s Temple Orange Mediterran­ean Bistro will have an oceanfront prix fixe brunch for dad ($75 for adults, $25 for children 5-12, free for children under 4). The choices will include stations for pizza, omelets, carvings and desserts as well as a chilled seafood bar. There will also be a liquid brunch bar ($25) with Goose Island Bourbon Country Stout, Bloody Marys and local craft beer as well as stations for “Man-Mosas” and High West Bourbon.

You can order a readyto-cook Father’s Day meal from Fresh Market either in-store or online through June 12. The meal ($49.99-$59.99) includes a choice of four New York strip steaks or four Atlantic salmon fillets (or you can mix and match two of each. The special offer also includes four vegetable kabobs, broccoli cranberry slaw with almonds and poppyseed dressing, four twice-baked potatoes and four double fudge brownies.

For Father’s Day only, Internatio­nal Smoke will have a special cocktail pairing dish ($65) of a smoked bone-in ribeye topped with rye peppercorn sauce and served with a side of crushed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The meal is paired with a Bulleit Rye old fashioned.

This is a South Florida version of the two Michelin-starred Indian restaurant­s that chef Hemant Mathur had in New York. In addition to a live Tabla percussion­ist performing and a cigar roller on-site, Maska will stage their first Father’s Day celebratio­n with a prix fixe brunch ($55, $40 for children). The brunch with bottomless signature cocktails ($75) is also an option. The Midtown Miami eatery will set up stations with dishes from different regions of India as well as favorites such as chef Mathur’s tandoor-oven cooked lamb chops, rosemary paneer and a whole fish of the day. This eatery inside the Norton Museum of Art will start their Father’s Day celebratio­n on Friday, June 14, with three special bourbon cocktails ($12) such as the Whistlepig Rye, Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door Whiskey and Misunderst­ood Ginger Spiced Whiskey paired with chef-inspired bites such as: broiled oyster with bourbon lemon butter, chive and chili pepper crumb; crispy pork belly with ginger soy chili glaze, green onion threads and chocolate covered Luxardo cherry with smoked sea salt. This new sister restaurant to the Okeechobee Steakhouse across the street will have 11 steak gift boxes for local and nationwide shipping. From 12:30 to 11 p.m. this restaurant in the Brickell enclave will offer a special ($12) Macallan Mac and Cheese, cheese platter and dried fruit paired with pours of Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old and Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old whiskies.

This restaurant in Royal Palm Place will give dads a free small carafe of hot sake with the purchase of one specialty sushi roll or entree from noon to 10 p.m. Some favorites include the lobster bomb roll ($25), the Out of Control roll ($15), filet mignon teriyake ($26) and Peking duck with pancakes ($30 for a half portion and $58 for a full portion).
