‘Bachelorette’ couple with Miami ties to get married in private
Viewers watched Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo meet and fall in love during her season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” in 2017.
Viewers also watched Lindsay give the Miami chiropractor her final rose on the show’s finale in Rioja, Spain where he proposed. But their wedding this month won’t be a TV affair, they said.
“I wanted a TV wedding. I 100 percent did,” Lindsay recently told People.com. “Then, as we got to know each other in the real world and things became normalized, and then I started hearing horror stories about these TV weddings, I am very thankful that we don’t have one and that we’re doing it on our own.”
The Texas native also added, “I also think that it shows to the world or Bachelor Nation that what we have is more real.”
The couple, who reside in Miami where Abasolo and his Colombian family are based, will have a private wedding in the Caribbean, according to US Weekly.
“It’s going to be in like a Caribbean area. It’s going to be at night. It’s going to be on a rooftop, so it’ll be laid back,” she told the magazine. “I guess it’s just the vibe that I want.”
While the location has been a secret, the couple’s registry has been public. They shared their wish list items on The Knot Registry. Items include a Dyson vacuum cleaner, matching Mr. and Mrs. Robes and towels and an Instant Pot.
On Instagram, Lindsay shared that “for each gift purchased off our registry, The Knot will donate a percentage to a charity close to our heart, the Alzheimer’s Association.”
The couple met on the 13th season of the ABC reality series. From the beginning, Abasolo was a fan favorite and one of Lindsay’s top choices. He was the first to kiss her on the show and he also won the first impression rose. She was clearly smitten with Abasolo who showed off Miami’s Little Havana and his family home during a hometown date on the show.
He was one of the final three suitors on the show’s finale which he won in August 2017.
