Two South Florida hotel spas listed among ‘10Best’

If you live in or are visiting South Florida, you can relax at two of the best hotel spas in the nation.

Two local spas made the USA Today’s “10Best Readers’ Choice Awards” hotel spas list for 2019: Acqualina Spa in Sunny Isles Beach and Eau Spa in Manalapan.

The Acqualina Spa by Espa, which ranks second on the list, is at the Acqualina Resort & Spa. It offers a Finnish sauna designed to release toxins, a steam room featuring color and light, and an ice fountain and experience shower to cool off after the steam, according to the description by USA Today. There is also an oceanfront spa pool with a heated jet pool and waterfall and a candle-lit wishing well.

The Eau Spa, which ranks fifth, is at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan. The spa offers a choice of scents, music and lighting in spa treatment rooms, a garden with dipping pools, scrub and polish bar for to create a custom body scrub, whirlpool tubs and steam rooms.

Spas across the country hit record sales in 2018, with $18.3 billion in revenue, up 4.7 percent from $17.5 billion in 2017, according to the International Spa Association.

More people, 190 million in the U.S., are visiting spas, up from 187 million in 2018, according to the association. They’re also spending more during their visit, $96.50 compared with $93.70 in 2017.

USA Today editors chose the nominees for the “best hotel spas” and then readers vote online for their favorites.

Readers’ Choice topranking spa for 2019, as well as the previous year, is The Ritz-Carlton Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Charlotte in North Carolina. The spa is eco-friendly with a Himalayan salt room, dry sauna and experience showers. It also features a lounge with a pool, whirlpool and refreshments.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando ranked seventh on the list. It features local ingredients such as honey, a tea lounge and steam room.

The other spas in the top 10 are in Reno, Nev.; San Antonio, Texas; Chicago; Beaver Creek, Colo.; Dallas and Las Vegas. To see the full list, go to 10best.com.
