Diplo, Flo Rida at Gronk Beach fest
Future NFL Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski will be playing in South Florida on Super Bowl 2020 weekend after all: The former New England Patriots star on Tuesday announced the inaugural Gronk Beach festival on Miami Beach on Feb. 1, with performances by Diplo, Kaskade, Rick Ross, Flo Rida and Carnage.
Tickets will cost $149.99 and go on sale 11 a.m. Thursday at GronkBeach.com.
The party will take place at the North Beach Bandshell 1-7 p.m. Feb. 1, the day before Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. All tickets include an open bar and dining options. Pre-registration for tickets began Tuesday.
VIP tickets start at $749.99 and include expedited entry, access to Gronk’s Clubhouse and a balcony overlooking the main stage, air-conditioned lounge seating, premium open bars and more.
Gronkowski is a lovable, outsized personality, both on the field with his thunderous endzone spikes and in his many TV appearances, from late-night talk shows to animated series such as “Family Guy” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
This is not the first time Gronkowski will party in South Florida, of course. Exhibit A: His cameo in the big-screen version of HBO’s “Entourage,” filmed in various locations around Miami.
Gronkowski retired from the NFL last year, though rumors have persisted that he’s planning to unretire in time for the Patriots’ possible return to the Super Bowl in 2020. For now, he’ll be playing in “the championship of partying” with Florida EDM and hip-hop stars like Diplo, Flo Rida and Rick Ross.
“You can’t keep me away from Big Game Weekend. I’ll be bringing the fiesta to Miami at Gronk Beach.”
Gronkowski said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Just imagine dancing on the beach with a massive main stage featuring A-list performers like Diplo, Kaskade and Rick Ross, all my friends and family, beach performers and, oh yeah, all the food and drinks you can handle. Gronk spike!”
