- By Joe Cavaretta

TAMARAC — There were no witnesses to the incident in which a man died after his car went through the parking lot of a Tamarac apartment complex and landed in a canal, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Sometime between midnight and 6:38 a.m. Thursday, the 2015 Honda Civic Lachtowiz Frazier was driving traveled through the parking lot of the Golf Villas apartment complex near the 5900 block of Northwest

46th Avenue and smashed through a guard rail and hit a tree before landing in the canal, the agency said.

Tamarac Fire Rescue and a Sheriff’s Office dive team were able to remove Frazier’s body from the car about 10 a.m.

At the scene, Sandra Lopez said she had no idea how or why her son, 27, known to all as “Nando,” ended up in the canal.

Sibling Sequilla Frazier has organized a GoFundMe.com page to raise money for her brother’s funeral.

“We will miss you dearly, thank you for presenting us with your sweet soul, Frazier!!,” one donor posted to the GoFundMe site. Another said, “Such a sweet and beautiful soul. May you rest in peace.”

By midday Friday, just over $5,300 had been raised.

Funeral plans have not been announced.

Frazier worked at two jobs while studying at Broward College, family members said. In a recent Facebook posting after his birthday, Frazier appeared to be looking forward to his future.

“I appreciate all the wishes and I thank God to see another year and be with family and friends bless up and healthy year to all financially, spiritually and faithfully,” he wrote.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
