A parade of several hundred boats from the Jupiter Inlet to Mar-aLago got the president’s attention on Twitter.

President Donald Trump tweeted a video showcasing boats in the Intracoastal Waterway flying Trump flags and messages of support for the president.

The parade, which started at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, headed south to the president’s Winter White House and back.

Event organizers asked attendees to fly their favorite Trump and USA flags to “honor President Trump for all he is doing to ‘Keep America Great.’”

Alexa Ferris, 27, of West Palm Beach, said she heard about the event on Facebook. She, along with Raul and Cathie Romaguera of the Romaguera Law Group, and two other friends attended the parade on the Romagueras’ boat, called, “Closing Argument.”

Ferris, who has not been out on the water since the coronavirus shutdown, said everyone she observed was social distancing and that she felt safe. “It’s nice to do something other than be inside,” she said.

This was the first weekend since county restrictions on recreational boating ended.

Ferris said the boat parade, along with other Trump supporters on bridges, condominium balconies and elsewhere along the route, made her feel proud to be an American.

“The day was inspiring to see all the support and love for President Trump both from boats and shores,” she said. “I’ve never seen so many boats flying their flags in support. It was a great day for patriotism.”
