What about Antifa?

-

I read with interest the Sun Sentinel article about the Proud Boys. [“Proud Boys: A small, incendiary group chummy with Florida and its political figures,” Oct. 3] You did a lot if research. Hopefully, you plan to follow that up with a well-researched article about Antifa and Black Lives Matter. Both these groups promote a Marxist ideology. Both these groups promote defunding the police. Both these groups have been involved in violence and destruction for months, even years — far, far more violence and destruction than the Proud Boys.

I became aware of Antifa in 2018 when they blocked traffic in Portland and terrorized citizens. Every time the Proud Boys got a permit for a demonstration, Antifa showed up without a permit, solely to stoke a confrontation.

Black Lives Matter leaders are admitted communists! They also have been front and center in violence over the last three months. While I am not aware of any looting, attacking police or arson by the Proud Boys, Antifa and BLM are well-documented throwing dangerous items at police, harassing and beating citizens and burning down businesses.

Our president has denounced the radical right on many occasions. Neither Biden nor Harris have condemned Antifa or BLM. In fact, they either deny their existence, as Biden did at the first presidential debate, or promote their “peaceful protesting,” as Harris has done.

In conclusion, when discussing current violence, any reference starting off with “Proud Boys” shows an extreme antiright prejudice. Hopefully, the Sun-Sentinel is not that prejudiced and we will soon see your well-researched article on the two very violent groups on the left.
