Former UCF cornerback Moore transfers to ’Noles
Former UCF cornerback Brandon Moore, who contributed to the Knights’ undefeated season in 2017, is transferring to Florida State for his final year of eligibility.
Moore posted an image of himself in an FSU uniform on Twitter on Monday night with the message, “Last one! Go time, All Business!”
He is one of four new transfers the Seminoles have picked up during the past five days. The school also announced the addition of defensive back Jammie Robinson, a sophomore from South Carolina; defensive end Keir Thomas, a redshirt senior from South Carolina; and running back D.J. Williams, a sophomore from Auburn. The players are all enrolled for the spring semester.
“We’re excited to get this group of transfers in school to be part of our offseason program and involved within the FSU community,” FSU coach Mike Norvell said. “All of our newcomers are excited about their individual opportunities here at Florida State but also the ability to build collaborative relationships with their teammates and coaching staff. We had the youngest team in college football last season and are excited about the youth we are continuing to develop, but it’s also great being able to add quality experience to our roster.”
Moore is following close friend and former UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton, who also transferred to FSU. Milton and Moore spent much of the past two seasons together while recovering from knee injuries.
Moore, a redshirt senior and Sanford Seminole High alum who goes by the nickname “Bam,” has not played since suffering a torn ACL in the 2019 season opener. The injury sidelined him for the rest of that season and all of 2020. He entered the NCAA transfer portal Sunday.
“We’re happy to be adding Brandon Moore to our defensive backfield,” said Norvell, who faced Moore and UCF while coaching at Memphis.
“He’s someone I have great familiarity with, having competed against him. He’s a long cornerback who is extremely fluid in his movements and has a high athletic ceiling. He’s been a very productive player who adds experience and playmaking ability to our defense.”
