Cornerbacks coach Williams joins staff
UCF coach Gus Malzahn has added another familiar face to his coaching staff, hiring former Auburn assistant Addison Williams as the Knights’ new cornerbacks coach.
Williams agreed to a two-contract with an annual salary of $250,000, according to a compensation document obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.
Williams spent last season at Coastal Carolina as the safeties coach, helping the Chanticleers put together a record-setting season with an 11-1 record and top-25 ranking thanks, in part, to a passing defense that ranked third nationally with 16 interceptions.
He previously worked at Auburn as an analyst and an assistant under Malzahn in 2019. Before that, he spent several seasons at Furman, rising to the role of defensive coordinator in the spring of 2019 before leaving for Auburn.
Williams spent two seasons at Tusculum College, coaching defensive backs before becoming defensive coordinator in 2016. The Georgia native played three football seasons at South Carolina from 2007-09 before an injury ended his playing career.
Malzahn has also hired Devin Ducote as UCF’s new director of football recruiting and player personnel. Ducote announced the move on social media Monday afternoon.
Ducote most recently worked as the defensive coordinator at West Feliciana High School (St. Francisville, La.) and spent time under Malzahn at Auburn as a defensive analyst.
“Loved my time with [West Feliciana High]; excited to get back with @ CoachGusMalzahn and help take @UCF_Football to the next level!” he wrote on Twitter.
Williams and Ducote are the latest additions to Malzahn’s new staff at UCF, joining defensive coordinator Travis Williams, codefensive coordinator and secondary coach David Gibbs, offensive line coach Herb Hand, special-teams coordinator Brian Blackmon, co-offensive coordinators Tim Harris Jr. and GJ Kinne as well as director of sports performance Chris Dawson.
