The arguments for and against the right to bear arms were starkly juxtaposed in the first few pages of the March 29 edition. On page one the lead story, “Attacks spur calls for states to act,” regarded shootings in Colorado and Georgia. On page four, reporting on the Myanmar military coup that ousted the elected government, a photo caption read: “Anticoup protesters prepare to use slingshots in defiance of armed security forces.” The citizens of Myanmar are reduced to slingshots, against guns.
